Artist Statement

“Invoking the same temptation as the most delicately frosted confections, my work plays on the sensuality of the senses through its use of texture and shape. These are not meant to be minimalist works that focus on limitations, but rather on the ripeness and lushness of both paint and color. Utilizing a broad spectrum of tools -ranging from the traditional, to the more experimental- I articulate fantastic shapes cultivated from my mind by sculpting the paint and integrating delicate variegations in each mark. Resultant is series of paintings celebrating the richness of paint as a three dimensional medium, the boldness of color in both its purest form, and the explosion of the earth’s bounty through the lens of my artistic imagination.“

Judith Dunbar was born in Ontario, Canada. She relocated to Dallas, Texas in 1994 with her family where she has enjoyed careers in both art and nursing. Judith holds a BSN, RN, RNC-NIC nursing degree with extensive experience in NICU level IV and NICU Flight Transport. Her art is self taught and she sustains a thriving art career as a uniquely skilled dimensional painter with long term gallery partners. Judith is also a contributing artist to the popular Precious Rebels ™ crystal art instrument collection.
